Get ready Bobcat fans, because the return of Bobcat Bonanza is just around the corner. This year marks the 33rd annual bonanza and 2022 marks a return to an in-person event full of music, food, and fun. Whether you’re a former Bobcat, a parent of a Bobcat, or you simply just love to support the Texas State University team, you’re not going to want to miss out on Texas State University’s athletic department’s annual fundraising event.
The Bobcat Bonanza has tripled in attendance and over the previous six years, it’s raised $2.5 million with the 2019 event pulling in a staggering $500,000. With its entertainment lineup, dinner and drinks, and silent auction, we know this year will be another success.
Save the date
Put on by the Texas State University Bobcat Club and sponsored by Texas Regional Bank, the night of fun and fundraising happens on April 30 at 6 PM in Bobcat Stadium.
“This is our single largest fundraising event of the year and is massively important in helping us fund our student-athlete scholarships,” Texas State Director of Athletics Don Coryell said. “After a two-year interruption, we are extremely excited about getting all of our Bobcat fans back together for an outstanding cause and a great time.”
The goal of the evening and what to expect
The night of celebration helps to support over 350 Texas State student-athletes as well as future athletes for the years ahead. Organized by the Bobcat Club, the event not only raises funds for scholarship support but helps to spotlight the club’s other objectives such as raising support for athletic facilities upgrades and student-athlete programming.
The evening promises to be a celebratory affair and you’ll want to come hungry and thirsty as things kick off with dinner and drinks provided by Texas’ own Saltgrass Steak House. There will also be musical entertainment provided by Feria Del Mariachi a Texas State University mariachi education program, and VocaLibre. “From traditional choral music to pop and R&B covers … and renaissance motet to South African freedom song” the acapella group covers a wide musical landscape.
One of the most popular parts of the Bobcat Bonanza is the silent auction. Guests will have the opportunity to browse and bid on over 150 items in the concourse of Strahan Arena. While auction items for this year haven’t been announced yet, it’s a safe bet that a host of amazing things will be on the auction floor. Previous auctions have included everything from jewelry to luxury vacations and opportunities to travel with the football team to away games.
Tickets can be purchased here and start at $150 for a single ticket. There’s also a range of bronze, silver, gold, and platinum ticket packages available for both couples and groups of up to 10 guests.
Without a doubt, this is going to be a night that Texas State University fans aren’t going to want to miss. Want to be close to all things Bobcat 365 days a year?
