Time to hand out some more #LocalLove. This time, it goes to Valentino’s (110 N. LBJ Dr., San Marcos, TX 78666) in downtown San Marcos. The locally owned and operated pizzeria has been a San Marcos institution since 1981. They serve old-school style, fresh food and cold beer.
Valentino’s is affectionally known as the best little old pizza joint in town, and San Marcos residents were devastated when the restaurant closed in November 2018. But now, nearly three years later, Valentino’s is set to make its grand return to the San Marcos dining scene in late 2021.
The pizzeria has undergone a full makeover and will feature a full bar in the main dining area. The remodel included knocking down a wall so customers will be able to watch the action in the kitchen.
With pizza in front, they’re moving the party in the back as they’ll have a new patio area in the back of the building. There, you’ll spot the recipe for the original Valentino’s dough scrawled on the wall. Live music is also on tap.
While the menu will have changes, some favorites will be back. The owners have been listening to customer feedback. And yes, the square pizza will return. You can buy pizza by the slice and use the pass-out window for late-night orders.
